Chevron Technology Ventures Invests in Carbon Engineering’s Fuel Recycling Direct Air Capture

On January 9, 2019 Carbon Engineering (CE) announced the investment of Chevron Technology Ventures in CE’s technology called “direct air capture” (DAC). CE’s DAC technology refines carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and combines it with hydrogen from water to create gas or jet fuel. The DAC process  reduces the impacts of climate change by using the Earth’s atmosphere as a way to recycle fuel.

Efficiency is key to top engine performance, as new engines are being built to address fuel economy and emissions standards. To achieve efficiency and increased power, automakers began downsizing engines. Although efficiency was achieved, the performance of engines began to suffer. To offset the changes, automakers added turbochargers to the downsized engines to boost operating pressure.
